"@rtemis." Eric Tofsted 2017. 16" x 20". Watercolor, pastel, colored ink, marker, pen, and xylene transfer on canvas.

This personal piece depicts a lot of experimental meanderings I did while in the studio. The piece is designed to take Art Nouveau elements and mash them into a more expressive, abstract style. I'm constantly obsessed with taking what we have from the Art Nouveau period and expanding on its application.
The piece was also designed to be flipped upside-down or actively rotated in the frame by the viewer.
Behind each door is a glimpse into a much darker, sinful cartoon world. The doors are cut right out of the canvas, and watercolor paper is attached behind it.
